July  August –  summer flowers , fetes and fun!

Come when the famous Open Gardens event takes place in Usk , the Town of Flowers, and the roses are at their best.

Come  before the school holidays  get going!  or when they are in full swing ! Please go to the availability page and calendar for all dates and our special price offers. Pets always welcome of course.

Come when flowers bloom and the smell of new mown grass is everywhere  -late June sees Tintern fete, Castles and Gardens open to visitors.

There are  cream teas  in the shadow of Tintern Abbey and the rivers are perfect for kayaks and canoes.  Picnic or barbecue or a doze in the sun ?  Not to be missed!! This is the season for cucumber sandwiches, cricket whites, scones and strawberry jam. Local ice cream running down your chin. Cider with folk music  ( try Folk on the Lawn festival  in Tintern in Mid July) or a pint on the river bank. All available with a dash of warm Welsh style. Croeso!

Make the most of the great outdoors. Our cottages  have their own pretty garden, garden furniture, riverbank or  woodland walking from the doorstep.   Brilliant local pubs and restaurants abound , many with take out menus, there is the Ryder Cup golf course, ancient castles and museums to explore , fantastic off and on road cycling  with bike hire available,  paddle hard or  drift your canoe gently down the magical Wye.

Afraid it may rain? Still loads to do!  Fishing and quad biking are better in the rain,   swim in an indoor pool or an outdoor reservoir  , visit an indoor tropical butterfly zoo, go into ancient roman mines or a deep coal mine or visit a world class museum. Or splash in woodland puddles and enjoy the scent of newly washed trees.   Try our  theatres, concerts and sporting events,  be tempted by farm shops or world class shopping in Cardiff.  If not , well simply relax in clean green  surroundings.

On  the second Saturday each month Tintern has a marvellous Local Produce Market. Dont miss it- there are the most delicious things!
