Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

We had a great stay, good golf and lovely dinner and a visit to Hay on Wye!
Till we meet again.

On arrival at Vanilla Cottage we were given a warm welcome by Fiona and Malcolm. The cottage is lovely, well equipped and sits in beautiful countryside which we enjoyed exploring.

A fantastic week in a beautiful cottage. Returning for a holiday after 11 years when we lived in Chepstow. Sunny and warm all week. Great location for shopping, eating, drinking and lots of fishing. If you like traditional fly fishing for Rainbows, Wooleston Court is the best!!! Large lakes, stunning location. Also check out Bigwell at Redbrook- like an aquarium in your back garden. Worth a visit, but on the small side.
We all had a thoroughly good week.
Many thanks Fiona and Malcolm

One of the loveliest holiday cottages we’ve stayed in- everything we needed and the hot tub was lovely- a must when you have had a day out walking.
Great walks which the dogs enjoyed especially the Devil’s Pulpit and up the Angiddy Valley. A great walk in woodland where they were off the lead the whole time. Also there is a great walk from the door of the cottage.
Looking forward to a return visit

Many thanks for a very comfortable stay- this is undoubtedly the most well equipped holiday cottage we’ve ever stayed in. And we appreciated the flowers, Welsh Cakes and wine!
We’ve been lucky to have had ideal weather for exploring the area on foot, and especially liked the view from the Devil’s Pulpit looking towards Tintern Abbey.
Good food at The Anchor pub in Tintern and also the Saracens Head at Symonds Yat.
Looking forward to visiting the area again.
