Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

This is one of the best dog friendly cottages we have stayed in and the location is superb. It’s our first visit to Tintern Abbey and the Wye Valley and we’ve been so surprised by the.
Beauty of the area with its ancient woodlands and endless well signed public rights of way. Our 16 month old Springer Spaniel has loved every walk and has collapsed into a long and sound sleep at the end of every day!
Reasons for loving the cottage include the contemporary feel, the superbly equipped kitchen and perhaps the number 1 reason: just how clean it is☺
Perhaps the best feedback that we can give is that we have alredy booked again for next summer.

We had a great time here in the cottage. The views of the Abbey are wonderful, especially at night. The beds were very comfortable and the whirlpool bath very relaxing.
Our visit was part of a surprise 50th present for me. Your cottage is beautiful and very tastefully restored – well done!
Wye Valley opposite an Abbey can’t go wrong.
A memorable weekend.

A spectacular base for a family reunion with sister and husband in Monmouth. The raft race and Vespas in the Abbey made an enjoyable and contrasting Sunday. Goodrich Castle and canoeing on the Wye best excursions. The Fountain Inn and Anchor good for food.

Abbey Cottage has it all and so much more…..sit out the front at 6am and watch the morning start with a cup of coffee in hand and drink in peace. No need to use the car for anything, everything is in walking distance. It’s going to be very hard to leave but so much easier to return. Rupert’s first holiday and he loved every minute here.
Thank you for the beautiful fresh flowers everywhere, wine, cakes, milk etc etc.
There is however one downside to the cottage…..you won’t sell it to us.
Thank you so nuch for a wonderful stay.

Lovely cottage, beautiful location. Didn’t need to drive anywhere, there was enough for the children aged 1 and 4 to do in the area for the 3 days.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely pub with lovely food across the road.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage which has gone too fast. Highlights for us were hiring bikes at Pedalbikeaway and following the Family trail and canoeing the Wye which we did and was even great in the rain.
We have loved living opposite the Abbey and my son loved Pokemon hunting around the area. He even managed “Mr Mime” (a rare Pokemon) at the Abbey. We also really enjoyed walking the dog up to St Mary’s behind the cottage and looked around the interesting gravestones and lovely view of the valley.
The cottage has been perfect for us and we are sad to be going home.
