Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

Had a lovely weekend, cosy comfortable cottage. Hot tub was a lovely treat. Will certainly be back and will highly recommend to family and friends.

Once again a wonderful stay at “The Christmas House”.
Beautiful frosty weather. Wood fire put to good use. Visted The Abbey again!. Two good lunches out The Piercefield (St Arvans) The Anchor (Tintern). Going home refreshed. As always we will be back.
Thanks Fiona and Malcolm for the warm welcome and the lovely house.

Thank you, we had a wonderful visit in Tintern, and we all had a great week! Stunning views of The Abbey in all weathers – mellow frosty mornings, dark and dank in the drizzle and majestic in the sunshine. Fabulous!
We enjoyed the lovely area exploring plenty of walks to keep us and the dogs happy. All the pubs, cafes around Tintern offer good food, with a friendly welcome.
Recommend the Castle at Chepstow and follow the blue/green arrows around the town telling you all about the history. Wonderful friendly pub the Boat Inn on the river bank. Also Raglan Castle was amazing….I wish I could go back in time!
Lovely cottage and thank you for the welcome “treats”

WOW! What a wonderful and Relaxing retreat! Timely visit for the Abergavenny Food Festival. Beautiful local walks along the Usk Valley and Iron Age fort was brilliant too. A visit to Bettws Newydd church is also worth it too – especially for the Yews and the Church!!
I will definitely come back!!
Thank you also for the welcome pack, wine, Welsh cakes, blackberry Vodka and the doggy treats! Rufus appreciated those.
You have thought of every detail to make this a delightful stay!. The enclosed garden is excellent when you have a four legged friend, also the advice on local walks meant that I didn’t have to drive if I didn’t want to!
I sampled the food at the Angel Hotel “££££” but amazing. Coffee and cake in Luigi’s in Abergavenny was my favourite over the week.
Having logs for the fire was also beneficial and thoughtful.

What a fabulous cottage, truly 5 star!
This was a last minute booking for my partner’s birthday and it didn’t disappoint!
All the little welcoming touches (Christmas decorations, chocolates in the Advent calendar, wine and homemade berry infused vodka) were extremely well received – thank you.
We had a relaxing few days, didn’t venture out much but that was the point of a relaxing break.
As it was a last minute break we couldn’t get into either of the Michellin star restaurants but we did manage to get a table at The Hardwick. It is about a 25-30 minute drive but well worth the journey to sample Stephen Terry’s delicious food.
We wandered over to Tintern Abbey a couple of times but unfortunately we couldn’t get in as it was closed due to a film crew being on site.
Lovely meal at The Anchor on our last night, perfect end to a fabulous few days away!
We will definitely be back!
Thanks Fiona and Malcolm

Had a super week. Beautiful walks to Offas Dyke, Symonds Yat and the Four Waterfalls. Found the walks had fairly flat easy walking parts which suited us – days for more strenuous parts have gone!
The cottage is lovely and cosy, everything we needed and everything our Lab needed too!
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Ooh, I almost forgot the treats ytou left for us and the dog! Delish
