Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

What a fabulous cottage, truly 5 star!
This was a last minute booking for my partner’s birthday and it didn’t disappoint!
All the little welcoming touches (Christmas decorations, chocolates in the Advent calendar, wine and homemade berry infused vodka) were extremely well received – thank you.
We had a relaxing few days, didn’t venture out much but that was the point of a relaxing break.
As it was a last minute break we couldn’t get into either of the Michellin star restaurants but we did manage to get a table at The Hardwick. It is about a 25-30 minute drive but well worth the journey to sample Stephen Terry’s delicious food.
We wandered over to Tintern Abbey a couple of times but unfortunately we couldn’t get in as it was closed due to a film crew being on site.
Lovely meal at The Anchor on our last night, perfect end to a fabulous few days away!
We will definitely be back!
Thanks Fiona and Malcolm

Had a super week. Beautiful walks to Offas Dyke, Symonds Yat and the Four Waterfalls. Found the walks had fairly flat easy walking parts which suited us – days for more strenuous parts have gone!
The cottage is lovely and cosy, everything we needed and everything our Lab needed too!
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Ooh, I almost forgot the treats ytou left for us and the dog! Delish

Another amazing stay at Vanilla Cottage! What beautiful scenery it is. So much wildlife in the garden. I spent hours watching the birds feed. Had a Tawny owl calling most nights
Went on some stunning walks, such beautiful scenery. Visited the nature reserve just up the lane – beautiful and so peaceful.
Visited The Black Bear Inn up the lane twice. The landlady and staff are so friendly and the food was delicious.
Thank you Fiona and Malcolm for all the little extras, the delicious vodka, the yummy Welsh Cakes and also the extras for the dogs. The towel and the extra dog leads cane in handy.
Beautiful cottage.
I will be back next year!!

Our stay at Abbey Cottage came as an unexpected pleasure. We took a late cancellation to come for a long weekend. As a busy working mym it was a chance to spend time with 2 of my children (ages 31 and 26). Sometimes you need to put everything else on hold and take time to switch off
We had some beautiful walks up to the Devils Pulpit on the hillside opposite and up to St. Mary’s church on the hill behind the cottage and through the village
The Anchor Inn was very welcoming, good beers, pub food and very good staff.
The Abbey lit up in red lights at night.
Abbey Cottage – perfect, comfortable, cisy, lovely treats.
Fiona and Malcolm you do a remarkable job.
Thank you for sharing your cottage
