Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Vanilla Cottage despite the snowy conditions at the start of our visit – luckily it soon melted. Just as we fondly remember it with welcoming treats, peace and serenity.
Our highlights are doggy walks in Wentwood Forest just the other side of Usk (Woodland Trust) and pottering around Usk, Abergavenny and Monmouth. A super break!

Weve had a wet week – but hey its Easter in Wales- weve got over it!. Some lovely walks many close at hand. The view from the top of The Blorenge- on a clear day- must be one of tbe finest in the country.
Many thanks for this snug little cottage and providing Easter treats so generously.

Came away for 3 nights to relax and unwind. Fell in love with the cottage. Long walk with dog, hot tub, wine and woodburner!
Perfect!

What a charming cottage! Pristine, rustic condition and so, so welcoming!. We love everything about the cottage, the location, the log burner and the way it just feels like home. Thank you to Fiona who, despite being on crutches, gave us the warmest of welcomes. Flowers, Welsh cakes and wine- lovely, thank you very much. Not far from our home town of Cheltenham but a completely different world.

To quote good old Arnie “I’ll be back!!

We have had a wonderful stay- the cottage is just lovely and so perfect to come home to at the end of a busy day out exploring. We enjoyed a long walk from Tintern to Devil’s Pulpit, Offas Dyke and round Brockweir.
Thanks again Fiona for the wine and welcome. The cottage is just perfect and will definitely recommend

Thoroughly enjoyed our short break in this beautiful cottage. The area has outstanding beauty and the cottage is ideally situated with an incredible outlook.
We will look to return when time and availability allow – five stars from us.
